A les\u00e3o cerebral no prem<\/strong>ature nascido beb\u00e9: caule<\/strong> A rede de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o de regenera\u00e7\u00e3o celular PREMSTEM \u00e9 um coletivo de m\u00e9dicos, investigadores, grupos de defesa das partes interessadas e um parceiro industrial com experi\u00eancia bem estabelecida em neonatologia e desenvolvimento de medicamentos. A n\u00edvel mundial, todos os anos nascem cerca de 15 milh\u00f5es de beb\u00e9s prematuros (antes da 37\u00aa semana de gesta\u00e7\u00e3o) e a nossa investiga\u00e7\u00e3o visa criar uma nova terapia para tratar as les\u00f5es cerebrais associadas ao nascimento prematuro. Atualmente, n\u00e3o existem tratamentos dispon\u00edveis para reparar esta les\u00e3o, que \u00e9 conhecida como encefalopatia da prematuridade (EOP). Estamos a investigar o potencial das c\u00e9lulas estaminais retiradas do tecido do cord\u00e3o umbilical doado para tratar a EOP, sendo que a nossa investiga\u00e7\u00e3o se articula em torno de tr\u00eas quest\u00f5es-chave: Quando devemos administrar as c\u00e9lulas estaminais? Quantas devemos administrar? Como \u00e9 que as devemos administrar (por via intranasal ou intravenosa)?
