Journ\u00e9e portes ouvertes de la recherche \u00e0 l'UCLH<\/a> le jeudi 8 octobre 2026, un \u00e9v\u00e9nement interactif consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 la recherche m\u00e9dicale et \u00e0 l'innovation dans le domaine de la sant\u00e9, organis\u00e9 par les h\u00f4pitaux de l'University College London (UCLH).<\/p>\nOrganis\u00e9 sur le campus de l'UCLH \u00e0 Euston Road, cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement rassemble des chercheurs, des cliniciens, des patients, le personnel hospitalier et le grand public afin d'examiner comment la recherche am\u00e9liore les soins de sant\u00e9 et fa\u00e7onne les traitements de demain.<\/p>\n
Sur le stand d'AMELIE, les visiteurs pourront d\u00e9couvrir les travaux men\u00e9s dans le cadre du projet visant \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une approche de m\u00e9decine r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rative pour le traitement de l'incontinence f\u00e9cale (IF), une affection qui touche plus de 67 millions de personnes en Europe. AMELIE \u00e9tudie comment les th\u00e9rapies cellulaires pourraient offrir une nouvelle option th\u00e9rapeutique aux patients atteints de cette affection difficile \u00e0 vivre.<\/p>\n
Au cours de discussions et d'activit\u00e9s interactives, l'\u00e9quipe AMELIE pr\u00e9sentera les fondements scientifiques du projet, l'\u00e9tat d'avancement des travaux \u00e0 ce jour, ainsi que les avantages potentiels pour les patients, les professionnels de sant\u00e9 et les syst\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement sera \u00e9galement l'occasion de recueillir les commentaires des patients et du grand public, ce qui nous aidera \u00e0 nous assurer que le d\u00e9veloppement futur du projet refl\u00e8te les besoins et les attentes des utilisateurs finaux. Held at the UCLH Euston Road campus, the event brings together researchers, clinicians, patients, hospital staff, and members of the public to explore how research is improving healthcare and shaping future treatments. At the AMELIE stand, visitors will learn about the project’s work to develop a regenerative medicine approach for the treatment of faecal incontinence (FI), a condition that affects more than 67 million people across Europe. AMELIE is investigating how cell-based therapies could offer a new treatment option for patients living with this challenging condition. Through discussions and interactive activities, the AMELIE team will explain the science behind the project, its progress to date, and the potential benefits for patients, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems. The first patient was recently treated in the AMELIE clinical trial during April 2026. The team at The Royal London Hospital implanted healthy muscle cells attached to microscopic beads in humans for the first time. The study aims to treat faecal incontinence caused by childbirth injury.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
The first patients had been biopsied two weeks prior to this in Cardiff at the University Hospital of Wales.<\/p>\n
These are important milestones for the progression of this groundbreaking treatment. The team looks forward to treating the remaining patients enrolled in the trial in the coming months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
