AMELIE (A<\/strong><\/span>nchored M<\/span><\/strong>uscle cel<\/strong><\/span>ls pour I<\/strong><\/span>ncontinence<\/span><\/strong>) est un projet de recherche collaborative de 5 ans financ\u00e9 par le programme-cadre de l'Union europ\u00e9enne (Horizon 2020). Il implique la collaboration de 13 organisations r\u00e9parties dans neuf pays pour d\u00e9velopper et mener des recherches. Le projet sera coordonn\u00e9 par l'UCL et dirig\u00e9 par Richard Day, professeur de technologie de m\u00e9decine r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rative \u00e0 l'UCL.<\/p>\n

Nos recherches<\/h3>\n

Le projet AMELIE comprend un consortium d'experts hautement interdisciplinaire qui propose une nouvelle intervention r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratrice utilisant des cellules autologues d\u00e9riv\u00e9es du muscle squelettique (ASMDC) pour restaurer la fonction du muscle sphincter. Les scientifiques fixeront les ASMDC sur des microporteurs implantables afin d'am\u00e9liorer la d\u00e9livrance et la greffe des cellules chez les patients atteints de FI. Cette m\u00e9thode sera test\u00e9e dans le cadre d'un essai clinique randomis\u00e9. Cette strat\u00e9gie devrait am\u00e9liorer la viabilit\u00e9 des cellules et augmenter la probabilit\u00e9 de r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration musculaire, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la continence.<\/p>\n

AMELIE<\/h1><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>AMELIE (Anchored Muscle cells for Incontinence) is a 5-year collaborative research project funded by the European Union Framework Programme (Horizon 2020). It involves the collaboration of 13 organisations across nine countries to develop and carry out research. The project will be co-ordinated by UCL and led by Richard Day, Professor of Regenerative Medicine Technology at UCL.Can cell therapy restore muscle function? Faecal incontinence is a serious public health problem, affecting over 67 million people in Europe. AMELIE is primarily concerned with the effect of injury to the anal sphincter by childbirth, surgery or trauma. Many such patients are unsuitable for current surgical options. Our research aims to provide a new form of regenerative treatment, as explained in this short video.Partnerships The AMELIE consortium is made up of 13 partners from across Europe, including the UK, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands. Organisations include universities, hospitals, research institutes, consultants and charities. The project will be coordinated by University College London, however a different organisation will lead on each work package.
