Jornada de puertas abiertas de investigaci\u00f3n de la UCLH<\/a> El jueves 8 de octubre de 2026, tendr\u00e1 lugar un acto interactivo para celebrar la investigaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y la innovaci\u00f3n sanitaria en los Hospitales del University College de Londres (UCLH).<\/p>\nEl evento, que se celebra en el campus de Euston Road del UCLH, re\u00fane a investigadores, profesionales cl\u00ednicos, pacientes, personal hospitalario y ciudadanos para analizar c\u00f3mo la investigaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 mejorando la atenci\u00f3n sanitaria y dando forma a los tratamientos del futuro.<\/p>\n
En el stand de AMELIE, los visitantes podr\u00e1n conocer el trabajo del proyecto para desarrollar un enfoque de medicina regenerativa para el tratamiento de la incontinencia fecal (IF), una afecci\u00f3n que afecta a m\u00e1s de 67 millones de personas en toda Europa. AMELIE est\u00e1 investigando c\u00f3mo las terapias celulares podr\u00edan ofrecer una nueva opci\u00f3n de tratamiento para los pacientes que padecen esta dif\u00edcil afecci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
A trav\u00e9s de debates y actividades interactivas, el equipo de AMELIE explicar\u00e1 los fundamentos cient\u00edficos del proyecto, los avances logrados hasta la fecha y los posibles beneficios para los pacientes, los profesionales sanitarios y los sistemas de salud.<\/p>\n
El evento tambi\u00e9n brindar\u00e1 la oportunidad de recabar opiniones de los pacientes y del p\u00fablico en general, lo que nos ayudar\u00e1 a garantizar que el desarrollo futuro del proyecto refleje las necesidades y expectativas de los usuarios finales. Los visitantes podr\u00e1n conocer a los miembros del consorcio AMELIE, examinar los materiales del proyecto y descubrir c\u00f3mo mantenerse informados sobre las pr\u00f3ximas actividades y los siguientes pasos.<\/p>\n
A medida que el proyecto se acerca a su aplicaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica y a su comercializaci\u00f3n, AMELIE tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 interesada en establecer contactos con posibles socios estrat\u00e9gicos, inversores y organizaciones interesadas en impulsar soluciones innovadoras en el \u00e1mbito de la medicina regenerativa.<\/p>\n

Held at the UCLH Euston Road campus, the event brings together researchers, clinicians, patients, hospital staff, and members of the public to explore how research is improving healthcare and shaping future treatments. At the AMELIE stand, visitors will learn about the project’s work to develop a regenerative medicine approach for the treatment of faecal incontinence (FI), a condition that affects more than 67 million people across Europe. AMELIE is investigating how cell-based therapies could offer a new treatment option for patients living with this challenging condition. Through discussions and interactive activities, the AMELIE team will explain the science behind the project, its progress to date, and the potential benefits for patients, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems. The first patient was recently treated in the AMELIE clinical trial during April 2026. The team at The Royal London Hospital implanted healthy muscle cells attached to microscopic beads in humans for the first time. The study aims to treat faecal incontinence caused by childbirth injury.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
The first patients had been biopsied two weeks prior to this in Cardiff at the University Hospital of Wales.<\/p>\n
These are important milestones for the progression of this groundbreaking treatment. The team looks forward to treating the remaining patients enrolled in the trial in the coming months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
