AMELIE (A<\/strong><\/span>nchored M<\/span><\/strong>uscle cel<\/strong><\/span>ls para I<\/strong><\/span>ncontinence<\/span><\/strong>) es un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n colaborativa de 5 a\u00f1os financiado por el Programa Marco de la Uni\u00f3n Europea (Horizonte 2020). Implica la colaboraci\u00f3n de 13 organizaciones de nueve pa\u00edses para desarrollar y llevar a cabo la investigaci\u00f3n. El proyecto estar\u00e1 coordinado por la UCL y dirigido por Richard Day, catedr\u00e1tico de Tecnolog\u00eda de Medicina Regenerativa de la UCL.<\/p>\n

Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n

El proyecto AMELIE comprende un consorcio altamente interdisciplinar de expertos que proponen una novedosa intervenci\u00f3n regenerativa con c\u00e9lulas aut\u00f3logas derivadas del m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico (ASMDC) para restaurar la funci\u00f3n del m\u00fasculo del esf\u00ednter. Los cient\u00edficos unir\u00e1n las ASMDC a microportadores implantables para mejorar la liberaci\u00f3n y el injerto de las c\u00e9lulas en pacientes con fibrosis qu\u00edstica. Esto se probar\u00e1 en un ensayo cl\u00ednico aleatorizado. Se espera que la estrategia mejore la viabilidad celular y aumente la probabilidad de regeneraci\u00f3n muscular, contribuyendo as\u00ed a mejorar la continencia.<\/p>\n

AMELIE<\/h1><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>AMELIE (Anchored Muscle cells for Incontinence) is a 5-year collaborative research project funded by the European Union Framework Programme (Horizon 2020). It involves the collaboration of 13 organisations across nine countries to develop and carry out research. The project will be co-ordinated by UCL and led by Richard Day, Professor of Regenerative Medicine Technology at UCL.Can cell therapy restore muscle function? Faecal incontinence is a serious public health problem, affecting over 67 million people in Europe. AMELIE is primarily concerned with the effect of injury to the anal sphincter by childbirth, surgery or trauma. Many such patients are unsuitable for current surgical options. Our research aims to provide a new form of regenerative treatment, as explained in this short video.Partnerships The AMELIE consortium is made up of 13 partners from across Europe, including the UK, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands. Organisations include universities, hospitals, research institutes, consultants and charities. The project will be coordinated by University College London, however a different organisation will lead on each work package.
