Das AMELIE-Forschungsteam war hocherfreut, dass es eingeladen wurde, auf dem Big Bowel Event am 22. August 2024 zu pr\u00e4sentieren.<\/p>\n

Das Big Bowel Event ist ein Online-Webinar f\u00fcr Patienten, das von Bowel Research UK veranstaltet wird, dieses Mal in Zusammenarbeit mit der Royal Society of Medicine. Die Veranstaltung umfasste drei Sitzungen zu den Themen Divertikelkrankheit, Darmmikrobiom sowie chirurgische und interventionelle Wissenschaft.<\/p>\n

Professor Richard Day gab einen \u00dcberblick \u00fcber das AMELIE-Projekt, gefolgt von der AMELIE-Patientenvertreterin Sarah Laws, die ihre Erfahrungen mit der Roboterchirurgie schilderte.<\/p>\n

The AMELIE research team was delighted to be invited to present at the Big Bowel Event on 22nd August 2024.   The Big Bowel Event is an online patient webinar hosted by Bowel Research UK, this time in conjunction with the Royal Society of Medicine. The event featured three sessions on diverticular disease, the gut microbiome, and surgical & interventional science.   Professor Richard Day presented an overview of the AMELIE project, and was followed by AMELIE patient representative Sarah Laws, who described her experience of robotic surgery.   The video of the full event is available on YouTube, with the AMELIE presentation starting at 2 hours and 15 minutes. Professor Charles Knowles<\/a>, Clinical Chief Investigator of AMELIE Project, discusses our research into a novel regenerative medicine strategy to address faecal incontinence caused by sphincter injury. It can severely impact the mental health of patients who cannot control their bowels, as most of the current treatments are ineffective, causing an unmet therapeutic need. Current surgical treatment of sphincter repair doesn\u2019t address the nerve damage that results in the muscle which is essential to allow patients to control their bowels \u201cWe need to be restoring the function of the anal sphincter not just atomically pulling it back together\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe AMELIE proposal is unique, no one has done it before\u201d. Watch the video to learn how the AMELIE project partners are developing innovative new treatment options for patients impacted by faecal incontinence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
