Held at the UCLH Euston Road campus, the event brings together researchers, clinicians, patients, hospital staff, and members of the public to explore how research is improving healthcare and shaping future treatments. At the AMELIE stand, visitors will learn about the project&#8217;s work to develop a regenerative medicine approach for the treatment of faecal incontinence (FI), a condition that affects more than 67 million people across Europe. AMELIE is investigating how cell-based therapies could offer a new treatment option for patients living with this challenging condition. Through discussions and interactive activities, the AMELIE team will explain the science behind the project, its progress to date, and the potential benefits for patients, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems. The team at The Royal London Hospital implanted healthy muscle cells attached to microscopic beads in humans for the first time. The study aims to treat faecal incontinence caused by childbirth injury.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The first patients had been biopsied two weeks prior to this in Cardiff at the University Hospital of Wales.<\/p>\n<p>These are important milestones for the progression of this groundbreaking treatment.
