Kun en del af dem, der g\u00f8r, vil s\u00f8ge yderligere behandling, men ~50% vil ikke v\u00e6re egnet til de nuv\u00e6rende muligheder. AMELIEs tilgang har mange fordele i forhold til andre kirurgiske indgreb, som indeb\u00e6rer risiko for infektion, smerte og blydefekt\/forvridning, hvilket kan resultere i permanent stomi.
